Creamy Custard French Toast

Golden, custardy, and just the right amount of indulgent—perfect for slow mornings or weekend brunch. This recipe uses brioche or Texas toast with a creamy vanilla-cinnamon custard, pan-seared to perfection and topped with fresh berries and maple syrup.

Ingredients

6 thick slices of bread (brioche or Texas toast), about 1-inch thick

3 large eggs

1 cup whole milk or half-and-half

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)
