Ingredients
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup (150 g) raisins
2 tbsp (15 g) flour (for tossing raisins)

Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Step 2: Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
Step 3: Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk.
Mix just until combined.
Step 4: Prepare Raisins
Toss the raisins with 2 tablespoons of flour to prevent sinking.
Fold them gently into the batter.
Step 5: Bake
Pour batter into a greased and lined loaf pan.
Smooth the top and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Serve warm with a pat of butter.
Pairs wonderfully with tea or coffee.
Add a dusting of powdered sugar for a simple finish.
