When I bought my first house a few years ago, I was thrilled. My family could finally move out of our three-room apartment and into a 185-square-meter house with a detached garage; my dream was coming true.
A few weeks later, I was overwhelmed. The honeymoon was over, and the joy of having our own space was fading. Instead of a two-bedroom apartment with a bathroom, we now had a large house to maintain, and it was more work than I expected.
We couldn’t afford to renovate our new home, which had been used for 20 years by the previous owner, so we decided to clean it ourselves.
I went to the store, bought every cleaning product I could find, and rolled up my sleeves—I’m talking sprays, brushes, sponges, and rubber gloves. I scrubbed everything, but I was disappointed with the results. The hardest-to-clean areas seemed immune to all my treatments.
