Chocolate Chip Pan Chewies

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and whisk again until the mixture is well blended and glossy.

  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Switch to a spatula or wooden spoon. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda to the wet ingredients. Gently stir until just combined and no streaks of flour remain. Be careful not to overmix.

  4. Fold in Chips: Gently fold the chocolate chips into the batter until they are evenly distributed.

  5. Bake: Spread the thick batter evenly into your prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set (it may look slightly soft, but should not be wet).

  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the pan to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing into squares. This helps them set for the perfect chewy texture. Enjoy!
